About Adakveo
Adakveo (crizanlizumab-tmca) is used in people with sickle cell disease to help reduce how often pain crises, also known as “vaso-occlusive crises,” happen.
Vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) occur when micro circulation is obstructed by “sickled” red blood cells. Adakveo works by binding to P-selectin, a protein that plays a central role in cellular interactions that can lead to vaso-occlusion. In its initial study, Adakveo was shown to reduce VOCs by about 45%.
Getting Your Adakveo Infusion
Adakveo is given every 4 weeks after two starter doses. Each intravenous infusion takes about 30 minutes.
