About Adakveo

Adakveo (crizanlizumab-tmca) is used in people with sickle cell disease to help reduce how often pain crises, also known as “vaso-occlusive crises,” happen.

Vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) occur when micro circulation is obstructed by “sickled” red blood cells. Adakveo works by binding to P-selectin, a protein that plays a central role in cellular interactions that can lead to vaso-occlusion. In its initial study, Adakveo was shown to reduce VOCs by about 45%.
